The Customer: UK- based, Dancing Aardvarks, is a unique combination of a production company and ad agency, who specialise in commercial production all the way from the initial concept to the final creation. This arrangement cuts the costs for their customers by avoiding double, or even more mark-ups. It also enables their customers to reduce the chains of contact as they talk to and work directly with the people who make their ad. Dancing Aardvarks is also a leading provider of long form infomercials to the three biggest long form advertisers in the UK.

With a variety of customers Dancing Aardvarks understand the need to connect different brands with different consumers and do their research to make sure each commercial hits the aimed target. Dancing Aardvarks aren’t afraid to be unusual or risky as they know this is what is required to stand out.

The Challenge:
Before the start of this year Dancing Aardvarks used a range of direct connect drives on each desk, such as Promise 16TB as well as Dulce and G-Tech. But as a company Dancing Aardvarks put over 1000 commercials through Clearcast and a lot of them are iterated from the same assets. It therefore became clear that having all of the assets online and accessible from multiple seats made a lot of sense.

The Solution:
At the beginning of 2016 Dancing Aardvarks successfully installed and phased in Facilis’ TerraBlock shared storage system over a two-month period. Nick Wiseman, Partner of Dancing Aardvarks explains their reasons for choosing TerraBlock over other vendor’s products, ‘’We chose TerraBlock because of its great price and good user reviews.’’

He goes on to state, ‘’It gives us turn around speed as the editor can be onto the next job whilst the graphic op is finishing up with either grading or captioning. All our work is uninterrupted as there is no un-mounting and re-mounting of drives therefore making us work more efficiently and effectively.’’

‘’Having most of our footage online and available for multiple users saves a lot of time for us when we require maximum throughput,’’ Wiseman continued.
